I caught a link of digg.com to a newish implementation of the Google Maps API that showed the location of registered sex offenders in any area you typed in. The address is http://www.mapsexoffenders.com/ and has a fair, intuitive interface. Of course the first thing I did was type in where we currently live and see what it came up with...30 registered sex offenders all within about a 20 radius of our home, go us!! I was happy that my hometown was clear... of course, this isn't completely updated and it just shows the sex offenders that are registered with the state.
The close proximity of these people really made me curious: Do they know about each other or do they shy away from that kind of information? Are they curious is they live near other offenders? I mean, maybe they might want to meet up and reminisce about old times. Or maybe they would want to go all group therapy on each other and figure out what went wrong in their heads to make them do such a thing. Or maybe I just need to stop thinking about this before I say something realy disturbing.
