Rogue Gods

I know I have not been talking about my story much, that is mostly because of my lack of faith in my own abilities. But I have had this image in my head since long before I thought about R2, and tonight I finally decided to draw it out. I grabbed an index card, my red and black Pilots, and drew out a rough of the idea, then I went in Photoshop for about an hour. The linked image is 1680x1050, I have been wanting a new desktop image for a bit and saw this as an opportunity. My desktop is at a higher resolution than I liked here and slightly edited. I figured I would share my results, but I also figured I would explain the relevance to the story world.

Like most fantasy, my world has its own pantheon. Thus far, it is made up of four gods: Old Oak (which I stole from Lushbaugh, his books here), Stone Arm, Lady Light, and Mistress Shadow. It started off simple with Old Oak and Mistress Shadow, but I felt it needed more, so poof, there were more. I tried to play off opposites a little: living/nonliving with nature/stone and light/dark with Light/Shadow. I also kind of like how it resembles the 'typical' DnD party requirements: 4 players with one caster, one tank, one healer, and one rogue. Unlike DnD, my gods are not good, evil, chaotic, or lawful...they just kind of are. The followers, however, can run the gamut, just like real life.

Anyways, this image is my visual representation of the symmetry of my pantheon and how they are all dependent on each other. One can not exist and have meaning without the other three. The funny thing about all this is I originally wanted to keep the deity system way the hell away from my stories, but R2 is heavily steeped with religious intolerance.

On the NaNo progress side. I have a little over 19k words. I was really hoping to break 20k last night, but Rook was down and I get distracted easily. I am still days ahead of the quota with plenty of content left to write, so I am not complaining.
