5 minutes of NaBloPoMo - Annoyances
Posted on: 2009-11-02 15:08:46

I was a member of National Blog Posting Month for about five minutes. I don't remember when/where I originally heard about it, but it was my sister doing it for a few months that made me think about it again...and then realize I couldn't pull it off. NaBloPoMo...NaBlo...PoMo...This site was created as an alternative-ish idea to NaNoWriMo (which I will be talking about all month so I won't go on about it here), only instead of working towards a novel, you post on a blog everyday. One major caveat though, is every month is apparently National Blog Posting Month (used to just be November, but people wanted to keep writing, but I don't know, they needed a reason. I probably shouldn't deconstruct this too much since I use NaNoWriMo every year...).

Anyways, sounds simple enough, right? Of course, I average a post every 4 days, so maybe not that simple. So when I thought about doing this again, I figured I would do it during November, because I knew I would be doing NaNoWriMo and I could always fudge out some lame posts like "Woot, 12k! Now to write more. kthxbai" and hit all 30 days. I signed up and started going through the page getting a feel for how things work. It is a nifty little service, and I can see how people would love it. There were a number of little annoyances as well, like all the advertising everywhere.

But within the first 5 minutes, I realized it wasn't for me. I don't have a problem getting motivated to blog. I have a problem with content...and yes, I know all of you who have been reading already knew that as well. But seriously, I would post all day if I had something to post about. My life is just not that interesting. Add to that the topics I won't post much about: family, money, sex, my inability to get a job, and I am not left with much to talk about. Which is also why you are going to be sick of seeing the acronym NaNoWriMo well before the end of the month...the wife and the cat are the only other things I have going for me.

So if you think you are interesting, but not motivated, hit up NaBloPoMo. But if you are like me, motivated but not interesting...don't talk about it too much, it is depressing.

Oh, and "Woot, 5k! Now to write more. kthxbai".

Finding something to blog about.

I thought about maybe a cat cam. Then I remembered how active your cat is.

A wireless cat cam might be interesting for when we let her outside.
