There is a scaling option on our phones that resizes pictures before they are sent as messages. It both conserves bandwidth which makes the message send/receive faster and since the screen size on the phones is tiny, we both set for the smallest resolution on the pictures. While playing with the text to rantfest, I turned mine up a notch.
