Yeah but we would play 3.0 or 3.5

But if we were still playing Jim would immediately buy all of the 4th edition books and use every opportunity to use spells and concepts from them.

It's a good business decision on their part. The people who have bought all the books are either going to

A. quit playing soon, or

B. rush out and buy all the new ones.

Additionally, it let's 'em incorporate some new things into the system and make it simpler.

I'm sure we'll play a game here and there ten years from now, and we'll a lot like those guys who are still playing 1st edition— people won't get it, but it won't matter, either.

You know I tried to play 3.0/.5 with a new group, but I couldn't get past the personality dynamics of the group. Maybe it was because my spot was already taken because I love to be actively involved and with this group I didn't see how that was going to happen without hurting someone's ego.

The group had the following types of people in it:

- The know it all that lead everyone around and didn't really let anyone fully expand on their characters. Plus, he had every book under the sun which gave him the right to quote odd spells and tactics when he felt it approriate and no one truly questioned the almighty. Not to mention, it was HIS house and he was providing the liquor. LOL.

- His side kick that pretty much played off of everything he said and thus was able to play more.

- The guy that everyone else picked on, but he was actually the best Role Player in the whole room. I especially loved his voices.

- The guy that really didn't know his character or anything on it. Not to mention he was a Jew, and everyone had fun with that (i.e., The jew doesn't know his skills, etc...) However, oddly enough, they didn't give him credit when he did show improvement.

- The guy with kids and his own beer that was able to speak two or three times throughout the entire game about tracking and shooting his bow. He played a ranger, quite fairies. LOL.

Maybe I'll find another group someday, but until that happens I guess I have MMOs... Ugh, they just aren't the same. Maybe I'll write an epic module? Hmm... Goals...
