I just found out that there will in fact be an expasion for WoW called the Wrath of the Lich King (there has been rumors for a couple of weeks, but nothing reliable). I was reading through the new features listed and was terribly amused. Keep in mind these are all early details and may change.
They are introducing a new class type, the Hero class with the Deat Knight being the first one. According to the details, you have to play your char and unlock the class for a new character. This new class is going to be both a damage dealer and a tank and will start at an elevated level. For those of you who never played StarWars Galaxies, the original method for obtaining Jedi was to play your char and unlock Jedi for a new character. The class had damage dealing and tanking capability over that of any other character. It just felt familiar.
The level cap is being raised to 80, but by the time more solid details comes out about this expansion, EverQuest will also be at 80. This is the second WoW expansion and is going to be a suddenly discovered ice continent, much like the second EverQuest expansion. Certain zones will have destructible buidings like EverQuest introduced in Prophecy of Ro (but probably only restricted to certain new instanced zones, just like PoR). There is a new Inscription profession that by reading the description is identical to the Scribe profession in EQ2. And finally, they will be adding more character custimazations options like nearly every MMO has had for quite awhile. And many, many more new things that will probably not really be new since other games have been out forever.
I am sure that it will probably end up being put together well and feel totally new and unique, which is almost more important that actually adding anything new. It will probably be a wonderful expansion that I won't bother buying...especially since I did not bother buying the last one and it actually had content I could interact with at my level. Oh yeah, similar to the way Sony handles almost all of its new expansions, this one is going to be 68+
