Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru [Anime ]

As I have stated before, I have watched a lot of anime. But I don't think I have seen one that is so cynical as this one.

"Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru," or "My youth romantic comedy is wrong as I expected," is classified as a romantic comedy, but given the cold heartedness of one of the characters and the asocial attitude of the other it should be considered a slice of life and a comedy.

Hikigaya Hachiman is as cynical as they get. Not only does he see social activity as a nuisance and a hindrance, but he would prefer that everyone would just drop dead. His teacher forces him to take up a club in order to fix his behavior. He tends to split hairs when it comes to writing his essays and they aren't to the satisfaction of the teacher. What awaits him the the most beautiful girl in the school and more social problems. While he is the protagonist, he is in no way in shape or form a hero. He is defiantly an anti-hero, and he proves it several times in the show. More so in the last episode.

Yukinoshita Yukino is a rather cold hearted individual. While the club she is in, and Hachiman, is intended on helping people solve problems that they have, she could really care less about the method used to get the means to the end or the people she ends up helping. She proves this by letting Hachiman do whatever he pleases in order to get results.

Yuigahama Yui is a girl with a really big heart and doesn't really seem all that bright. At least that is the vibe I get from her (she did mistake a dog collar as a choker...) Despite this she still hangs out with both Hachiman and Yukino, both of whom can easily tear out her heart and watch it burn. Actually in one episode Hachiman practically does that. Regardless of which she seems to have a thing for the both of them. Which is where the romance part of the show is supposed to kick in. In the end they leave it with Yui and Yukino being friends and questions as to what the fuck the actual relationship between her and Hachiman is.

I would like to make a mention about one of the side characters, Hayama Hayato. While Hachiman is cynical, asocial, and pessimistic, Hayama is charismatic, optimistic, and very sociable. He is the hero of the show, always looking for a solution peacefully and within reason. The bottom line is that he is the exact opposite of Hachiman. Though for a brief moment he plays the villain.

Like I mentioned before this is supposed to be a romantic comedy. It is more of a comedy than it is romantic. The comedy is dead pan and dry, which I liked. It made me laugh several times but I have to say it still isn't the best out there. Then again I just might be humorless.

What I probably liked the most out of the show was Hachiman's bluntness. While there was an instance that he was afraid to give someone a piece of his mind it didn't stop him from making someone, who I think deserved it, cry. Though it did end up making everyone in the school, at least his grade, hate him. As long as he was content with himself then there wasn't a problem with that. Which I think is what people should really strive for, being pleased with themselves rather than try and please everyone around them.

While I am sure there is more I could add to this, like a bit more in-depth review of the relationship of Yui, Yukino, and Hachiman, I would rather not bore you anymore than what I already have. I'm sure I'll be re-watching it though.
