I am a little nervous. I start my first class in almost six years in less than 40 hours. For the uninitiated, I am going to be attending Ivy Tech here in Terre Haute. I am going to be taking the Visual Communications (viscomm) with an emphasis in Web and Interactive design. This semester I am taking Typography, Fundamentals of Imaging, Intro to Computer Graphics, and Fundamentals of Design. I am really looking forward to the first three, which is good because that makes up my Monday...my 14 hour Monday. My Wednesday class is far lower on my hope list. The book we are using looks Powerpoint centric, which sucks. I am hoping that the book is just focusing on how bad design could be and how you can improve upon it. In which case using Powerpoint is the best possible way to go because 95% of the people using it just suck...which is one of the two reasons I hate Powerpoint. The other being that when I was working at Crane people seemed to think it was cool to send their 100 page presentations to everyone they could (ie I got 5-10 a week about things that did not concern anything or anyone I ever met on base). Oh well, as long as my loathing does not get in the way it should be an easy A I think.
