I had my overtime night of the week last night (not even been home an hour yet). I worked on a hand packing line, which I have decided are the most social of all the lines because two of the people work directly together. Most other lines can be worked for an entire shift without ever really having the opportunity of talking to anyone. So the entire night I work with this guy who also works at Wal-Mart in addition to his current job. Inevitably, amoung the other stuff we talked about over the 11 hours, we talked about Wal-Mart. I worked there for almost five years and he is pushing seven, so we both have a lot of experience there. Only difference, is he is a gearhead, so he works in the auto shop, and I am a geek so I worked in electronics.
The management/co-worker stories were pretty much identical, and that they were the same as DADC and every other jobs we have had. All jobs have the same daytime soap pseudo-drama that makes you think you are in high school all over again. Basically, in the immortal words of Church "No matter how bad things might seem...they can't be any better, they can't be any worse. Cause that's the way things fuckin' are and you better get used to it, Nancy. So quit your bitchin'."
Now the customer stories seemed to differ in huge ways. While on the floor I got customers who made my opinion of people lower drastically as I have mentioned in the past almost all of his centered around sexual suggestion from female customers. I would have customers who would not buy coats for their kids so they could afford a new DVD player and he would have customers who wear short skirts, no underwear, and show off their shavenness in order to negotiate prices. I only had the suggestion of flesh once, but I am really not into 50 year old sagging strippers.
