How Things End (In my head) - Television - Movies
Posted on: 2010-08-04 02:52:25

I was discussing this with the wife earlier, and decided that I wanted to share it here as well. I have a particularly interesting way at looking at shows I no longer care to watch or don't want to exist.

I saw this yesterday on Boing Boing, and it is probably my favorite thing on the internet for the next few minutes.

The Avengers Initiative - Movies - Comics
Posted on: 2010-05-27 04:02:37

I have been swimming in the world of comics recently__reading, watching, researching__and I felt like spilling a little bit of the stuff in my head out on the internet. The wife and I saw Iron Man 2 this weekend. It was pretty good and we both enjoyed it, etc etc. I am not going to talk about the movie directly, but something that was in 1, 2, and the Hulk movie: the hints at the Avengers Initiative. I have issues with this.

I am aware of the lack of posts. Oddly, it doesn't even stem from a lack of anything to post about, just nothing over exciting, or at least nothing I feel excited about to somehow stretch it out into a single post. Instead of hashing out the reason(s) I have just been wearily plodding on, just being content that I can, in fact, wearily plod on. So here is a sum up:

Aragorn the perverted. - Movies
Posted on: 2009-10-13 21:12:13

I watching The Lord of the Rings movies, and I just came across the scene in The Two Towers where Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas are on the orc pyre. After a few moments of despair when they think Merry and Pippen are dead, he starts tracking them. "there was a hobbit here"..."they crawled this way"..."they were bound". I don't know how many times I have seen this movie, and always it seemed unlikely because of the commotion between orcs and horsemen that had happened the night before. Today was the first time I saw something deeper.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Movies - Comics - 3/5
Posted on: 2009-09-18 12:04:29

I saw the Wolvie movie last night. I really enjoyed, and surprised by how much I enjoyed, the first 40-60 minutes. Then there was what the wife and I call a Queen moment, and things went downhill from there. I still enjoyed the movie, but as a Marvel fan, I was disappointed by how much they conjured for the movie. And even that, if they hadn't used Deadpool as the Frankenstein's monster of the story and used random never before heard of mutant for the role (yes, I know, more conjuring), I think it would be better. Comics Deadpool's power set: wicked regeneration. Power set from this movie's Deadpool: wicked regeneration, controllable eyeblasts, teleporation, and katana blades from the hands. Had they used someone new, who didn't have a future in the comics (and movies), they could have killed the character off and been done with it.

Well, hopefully nobody. But in case you did, and needed comfort after watching it like I did, this is for you. In case you are curious, I am not going into specifics about the movie since the person who loaned me the movie has yet to watch it. No spoilers here.

Indiana Jones 4 - 2/5 - Movies
Posted on: 2008-12-01 03:03:07

I just finished watching Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and I felt like I needed to write something about it, but well, I don't really have an opinion about it. It wasn't good, but to be fair, not being a fan of the series, I don't think any of them are good. They are OK, and so was this one. If I had to rank them, this would probably fall into second place after...damnit, I can't remember the name of any of them but Temple of Doom (see how much a part of my life they are?)...the one with Sean Connery. Maybe it is the father-son dynamic, I don't know, but the other two fell short with me. Anyways, the Crystal Skull was worth watching up until the last 15-20 minutes, and then whatever you imagine the ending could be will probably be better than what it actually was, even if you don't have an imagination. Actually, it might be that much better if you don't have an imagination.

The only winning move is not to play. - 1/5 - Movies
Posted on: 2008-09-30 23:42:37

I just finished watching WarGames: The Dead Code. This is the direct to DVD (at least I think it was) sequal to the geek-cult classic WarGames. There is both good and bad in this movie, but I think the good makes the bad that much worse.
