I had this fairly long post last night about my addiction to not doing anything, well, any thing significant. I talked about how I couldn't really blame a WoW addiction or internet addiction or TV, because I would always find something else useless but interesting to take my attention. Of course, while writing it, I was watching a podcast. When the podcast was over, I clicked the window, then hit Alt + F4 (my two favorite keys), but instead of it closing my media player (that is what Alt + F4 does, by the way, invokes the 'Close Application' function in Windows), it closed EVERY open window. The media player, my browser (with my post), and two file managers (or two instances of the same file manager if you want to be picky). I was annoyed, so I went to bed. I totally forgot about it until I just fired up the page to post about WoW, and noticed it wasn't there. Exciting, I know. It is so exciting, that I am not going to post about WoW now, I am just going to go to bed. Maybe I will talk about the cluster fuck that are patch days tomorrow.

Posted on: 2010-10-01 03:33:12[ 2 comments ]Yes, I have fallen behind in just about everything: the blog, the novels, my reading, the cleaning. But the bills are getting paid and I almost have another level 80 in WoW. In the last month or so, I have (re)discovered http://www.reddit.com/ and Irish whiskey (and Irish coffee), trained a couple of people at work, finished Little Brother
and started Nineteen Eighty-Four
. I finally threw out my old, worn, and rather disgusting Jinx AFK hat and purchased a couple of really plain hats off of the $2 clearance rack at Wal-Mart. And I have slept, at least once or twice. Speaking of sleep, I am gonna go do that now.

Posted on: 2010-07-18 03:01:20[ 1 comment ]I am having a slight identity crisis right now. While I figure it out, please enjoy this really old theme. It is so old that it doesn't have any of the little widget thingies and I am too lazy right now to take the few minutes to add them in. UPDATE: Did a quick retool of the greens theme: ripped out the theme graphics, widened it, and moved the bar to the left.

The change will probably be along the lines of wondering what the hell is wrong with me everytime you look at an lcd clock, but it might just get you playing too, which is slightly more insidious.

Posted on: 2010-06-02 04:27:25[ More - 5 comments ]I don't know why, but this feels like a confession: I bought a lottery ticket. It was $2. I knew I wasn't going to win. I bought it anyways. I feel pretty good about it. Amusingly, it could have gone bad. First my little story, then how it could have gone bad.

Posted on: 2010-05-17 02:48:27[ More - 10 comments ]I am aware of the lack of posts. Oddly, it doesn't even stem from a lack of anything to post about, just nothing over exciting, or at least nothing I feel excited about to somehow stretch it out into a single post. Instead of hashing out the reason(s) I have just been wearily plodding on, just being content that I can, in fact, wearily plod on. So here is a sum up:

Posted on: 2010-04-12 01:47:05[ More - Add comment ]NAS: So, I had been researching the NAS thing. I decided to go with a Synology model instead of the Netgear one I had been looking at. In addition to all the benefits of having a NAS, my end goal is have a cheap, energy efficient laser printer hooked up to it. It is all part of my desire to not have to worry about making sure a particular computer is on to either access or print files. To this end, the Synology seems to have a little better printer support, but it is about $100 more. Plus, I know me. Getting one step closer to my goal would of course push me to the next step, which would require more money. So both of these are getting put off for a bit.

Posted on: 2010-04-04 01:50:46[ More - 4 comments ]Money has been amusing me the past few days. More accurately the increased desire for stuff as the amount of money and expected money increases. I have been trying to organize and prioritize things in my head, want vs need, desperately want vs kinda want, actually want vs recognition that something is cool.

Posted on: 2010-03-04 00:48:13[ 2 comments ]Did you know that deleting your facebook account takes 14 days? 14 DAYS! How ridiculous is that? First you have to look it up in the help section, because you only have access to deactivate it in your settings. Once you find the section, it has a big paragraph talking about deactivation, links included, then a tiny paragraph mentioning deleting with a link. Clicking that link takes you a second page with the exact same information except the link to delete is slightly modified. Clicking that link takes you to a are you sure kinda page. Clicking yes goes to yet another page where you have to re-enter your password and do a captcha thing. Finally, after all that crap, it takes you to a page telling you that you have 14 days to change your mind.
At least there wasn't any nag pages. When you deactivate there are pictures of your friends with the text "These people will miss you" or some similar sentiment.

Posted on: 2010-01-12 14:18:52[ More - Add comment ]It is crazy that it has been two weeks since I posted last. It doesn't seem like that long, but a lot has happened since 12-27 (the 12-29 post was late due to a text to post error and my general lack of attention). My addiction to WoW was rekindled, the new year broke, Rook had another extended visit, I had a job interview (waiting on a call for the follow up this week, keep your finger crossed...and your toes...and children's toes...and anything else you can cross), the wife's grandfather passed away, I met a ton of the wife's relatives (most of which I had seen at least once before), and I have been heartily thinking about putting XP back on my computer instead of Win7 (at least until I get a faster proc and more ram...ie about two months after I find a job.) As far as the novel goes, I have poked around a bit, mostly seeing where I left off, and trying to find my voice again. I even have a few ideas for a possible fourth(?) novel in the series, and some expansions on the ideas I had for the third.
