200th post!
Posted on: 2005-05-02 01:43:46, by talam

Yeah, ok, I had mentioned in the last post that it was the 200th post...well, I realized I had a blank hidden post in there, so I deleted it, edited my post, and revamped my site. I had to play with the code a little to make it display like this, but it was something I had wanted to add in for possible 'Archive' page looks. I will probably be playing with colors for the next couple of days...I don't like it to look TOO similar between changes.

Also, on other potential big news, I started looking into getting an out-of-apartment host for the rantfest sites. It the past couple of months I have had a few people mention that they were looking for hosting and would like me to do it. And to be honest, I would be happy to, but I am on DSL bandwidth here, so it would really not be fair to anyone if their sites took off. It is looking like bluehost.com is coming off on top. It what I got from their page is right, I could essentially move rantfest over and sit it on their server along with my MySQL databases that hold the data for the site, and it would be like we still had it...only it would probably load 3 times as fast and I would put a bluehost logo somewhere on the page. It also looks like we could host both toomucheffort.com and writingingreen.com on one account and still have room for a couple more domains down the road. If you can't tell, I am fairly excited about it. It is still probably about a month or two out, but it will eventually be coming.

I can't believe....

...you are serious about the new hosting site. I believe I know how much you like hosting your own sever, but I certainly understand your rationale. I was thinking along the same lines in order not to be going against the grain with the cable company's policy. However, I will probably wait until we move this summer. Oh, and grats on the 200th post.
Cool beans...

Hosting was fun

...but yeah, we are technically breaking policy, and there are some things I have avoided doing because of that.

And I just signed up with Keenspace for the comic. So hopefully I can get that up and running before long.
Go you.

If you can keep it up I am sure that they can help your work get a lot of attention.
